“Cobweb,” directed by Samuel Bodin, presents a chilling tale of a young boy named Peter, haunted by strange noises and a voice emanating from his bedroom wall. As Peter’s parents grow increasingly frustrated with his behavior, the mysterious voice becomes a source of comfort, but its true intentions remain shrouded in mystery. Despite a creepy atmosphere and suspenseful cinematography by Philip Lozano, the film falls short of its horror potential. Jump scares lack the desired impact, and the twists in the plot can be easily predicted. The story introduces several intriguing elements, such as a missing trick-or-treater and bullies, but fails to fully explore or resolve these subplots. While the performances, particularly by Woody Norman as Peter, bring some depth to the characters, “Cobweb” struggles to deliver a truly haunting and satisfying cinematic experience.
